Club History

Southbury Football Club originated in 1981, when a club that had started in 1978 found it had a surplus of players and formed a second team.
The original club, Barcelona F.C played in the Edmonton & District Sunday Football league and had risen from division 7 to division 4 when the B team was formed.
The B team started in division 7 and by 1983 had progressed to division 5 and there was little difference between the playing strenghts of the two sides.
Due to this and other factors which were thretening the existance of the B team it was decided that the B team would become a team in its own right and so Southbury F.C was created.
Due to league deadlines, Southbury F.C couldnt play under their own name until the 1984/85 season and all ties with Barcelona were cut. Barcelona F.C no longer play in the Edmonton & District Sunday Football league.
Southbury F.C have won numerous trophy's and league titles over the years, most recently winning division 2 in 2006/07 season.
Due to the success of Southbury a B team was re-introduced in 2007 and has just completed its first season.
